Athirappilly is Kerala's most spectacular waterfall — 80 feet of thundering water crashing into the Chalakudy River surrounded by lush Sholayar rainforest. Called the Niagara of India, it has starred in dozens of films including Baahubali and Guru. The waterfall is at its most dramatic July–November after monsoon, but accessible year-round. The surrounding Vazhachal forest is home to the great hornbill and over 250 bird species.
